A Message from your ACHE Rhode Island Chapter President
To ACHE RI Colleagues,
It is hard to believe that is already May. Over the past year our healthcare organizations and communities have been transformed by Covid-19. We faced unprecedented times where the challenges and obstacles to address and overcome are unlike any we have faced before. It is nice to see that we are finally getting back to some normalcy in Rhode Island, and I hope that as time goes on that each of you take the time to rest, recharge, enjoy the outside and take time for self-care. One of our greatest strengths of our chapter and community is how connected we are.
It was so cool to network with many ACHE-RI members at the annual virtual Congress in March. There were over 9,200 registrants! The Congress was filled with inspirational content and exceptional speakers. Mark your calendars for the 2022 Congress to be held March 28-31, 2022.
On April 27th we held our first Virtual After Five Networking and Social Happy Hour. During the event we presented the following awards to:
Exemplary Service Award – Jennifer Tomasik, SM, FACHE
Service Award – Mark Johnson, MA, CPA, FACHE
Service Award – Ann Rubino, MSPH, FACHE, CMS, CPHQ
Senior Level Healthcare Executive – Scott Goodspeed, DHA, FACHE
Early Careerist Award – Guen del Mundo, MPH, CCS, CCDS, FACHE
Please join me in congratulating our award recipients.
To continue the success of our chapter we are actively soliciting those members interested in taking on a more active role in our chapter either on our Board or on one of our committees. This exciting opportunity will provide the successful individual with exposure as a committee chair or co-chair, opportunity to understand our local and national ACHE infrastructure and opportunity to contribute to the overall success of the chapter. We currently have two (2) Board of Director positions open. In addition, we are seeking to increase membership on the following committees:
Diversity and Inclusion Committee
If you are interested in chapter leadership or joining a committee, please email Erik Gabrielson, Director of ACHE-RI at email@example.com
Congratulations to Guenevieve del Mundo and Dr. Usman Lashari on passing the Board of Governors exam and earning the FACHE credential. If you are interested in pursuing this credential, check out details at https://www.ache.org/fache/earn-my-fache . As a reminder the Board of Governors exam fee waiver campaign runs through June 30, 2021. To receive the waiver a savings of $225, qualified Members must submit their completed Fellow application, $250 application fee and all required documents by June 30.
The education committee has been working hard to create a plan for educational events for 2021. We will continue with virtual offerings for now and plan to move to in-person and networking events later this year.
ACHE is pleased to offer members three new, free online communities for physician executives, Asian healthcare leaders and LGBTQ healthcare leaders. The communities’ platform makes it easier than ever for peers to connect in real time, tackle issues together and ask important career-related questions. Members can participate in discussion threads, share resources and best practices, and crowd source innovative ideas and solutions.
To join, follow these steps:
Log in to my.ache.org.
Under “Helpful Links” on the right-hand side, click the last option, “My Communities.”
Click the “Add” button to choose the online communities you wish to join. An MD or DO degree is required to join the Physician Executive Community.
Watch your inbox for your welcome email and instructions to access your new community! The email will arrive within 24 hours.
Thank you for being a member of this impressive organization. I look forward to connecting with all of you either virtually or in person at our events this year.
